Startup Southerner offers a flexible, remote internship program that will provide both the opportunity to add to your skillset, as well as mentorship for the future.
We’re looking for folks with a passion for storytelling and an interest in entrepreneurship. Whether you want to design infographics, try your hand at video journalism or just build your writing portfolio with articles for the site, our internship program can give you the opportunity to learn the basics of WordPress and web content development while you sharpen your storytelling skills. Our goal with the internship is to help you grow while you have the chance to create on topics that are of interest to you.

Startup Southerner was founded in February 2016 in Nashville as an online publication on a mission to include, inform and empower the Entrepreneurial South. Our mission is to plug readers in with their local entrepreneurial communities; we do this by sharing the stories of local startups, by highlighting programs and centers for entrepreneurship across the South, and by featuring startup lessons from seasoned entrepreneurs. Responsibilities include:
- Communicating with the team via Slack for day-to-day updates (Work from anywhere)
- Researching relevant contacts and then creating contacts with local startups
- Conducting interviews with story subjects
- Developing articles and posting to web using WordPress
- Receiving feedback from seasoned editors
- Creating an online portfolio
Interns will also have the opportunity to meet with our career coach for a coaching session and resumé help.
